Wedding Photoshoot: Yachting at One degree 15 by White Sails in Sentosa

Up on an early morning and off to a day of yachting adventure for a couple shoot with Lumiere photography and White Sails (1 Degree 15-Sentosa).
view more pictures at: www.facebook.com/artsy.gerra

I was excited as it was my first time on a yacht in Singapore, (my first yacht experience was when I went to Hongkong) and was pretty curious to see the yacht's interior and experience the life as (what many people would consider) the "upper society" class. Hooray!

The charter was for 4 hours. Though it's not considered expensive but I wouldn't label this as an activity like: going shopping in town on a whim; as a sort of activity whenever we feel like it. I was just going to fully enjoy being on one FREE OF CHARGE. Hahahhahaha

Surprisingly, the waters are clear here and you can see FISHES! I was AMAZED!!!!!!!!

A pretty pic of Angeline before we board. :)

Before the yacht set sail, it was bobbing crazily at the dock. We were all busy loading and setting up our equipment without paying much attention to the crazy swaying until much later.

As I did not have a proper breakfast, my gastric juice was swishing around in my stomach and I was starting to get EXTREMELY whoozy and nauseated.

I would say I'm not prone to seasickness that easily but for this, it proved too much for me to bear. ARGHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I desperately tried to swallow mouthfuls of water, trying to hydrate myself thinking maybe it was due to the hot weather. Snacking periodically to ease the rumbling of my stomach.

Finally I couldn't take it anymore and went to biggest bed inside the cabin and tried to sleep the nausea away till we docked at the island.

My Unglamourous Pic:

Unfortunately, the poor photographer puked and he had to shoot. Poor Dan.

The unglamourous Photographer:

By this time, we had already docked on this island called:
St Lazarius. (not even sure if I got the spelling right?)

And another boo-boo phtographer who had his socks screwed up. At least it's still the same colour tone...

Anyway this island is part of the St John' island in Singapore, secluded and un-developed. Basically you could skinny-dip in the waters and nobody would know. (except your friends of course! Coming alone would be way TOO CREEPY!) But the waters are clear and very nice!

St Lazarius in a snap

Look of the day: Waterfall braids and wedding makeup
Shot on a yacht at: One degree 15, Sentosa by White Sails.

While on the yacht, Angeline and her beau, Joey, had to strike poses and I thought they looked kinda awkward and funny but still cute. Look at their strained necks!!! I never thought taking pictures were easy anyway.....

I shamelessly camwhored too! Couldn't couldn't resist.....
Shameless

Candid Shot of Joey trying to do a jump shot and me failing terribly trying to capture it
Erm.

Well it sure looks like this girl is enjoying herself too!

Our man Shao looking good here!

While on the beach......
My heart goes AwwwwwwWWwwwwww.......

It was a crazy hot day and my feet were burning. We quickly finished up on this island and proceeded to continue with Joey taking a jumping shot off the yacht and then it's back to Singapore.

So the boys, Shao and Dan, set off on a dinghy, which they reminded me of Tom Hanks in the movie: Cast Away. HAhah

So, Finally it's a wrap ending with a nice hearty beer and lunch at Harry's bar.

To top it all off, I had ugly tan lines. ARgh!!!!! I hate it.

Love,
G

Hair and makeup for Megagamie, Online fashion

Recent shoot with online fashion store Megagamie.
http://www.shopmegagamie.com/

Apart from the cute and unique name, I love their dress collection! Some are designed by the owners, very talented I must say!

The weather was so horrible I swore I never sweated so much in my life before. Kudos to sweet model, Widya, who hung on just by sheer will power!
All of us were melting and photographer, Wilson, has already wet (with sweat) his pants but still taking shots also by sheer will power!!!! LOL

So lucky ladies, shop away in the comfort of your indoor space!

Going for the English vintage feel for this series.

Here are the pics shot by Wilson, Androids in Boots.

How to Chalk your hair

I think it must be THE mid age crisis that made me suddenly want to blond my hair.
I desperately wanted to go wild before I turn old and haggardly to carry off insanity of any levels.

So! I started googling for 'funky colours' or 'blond colour' visuals so I can show my stylist what shade of blond and to better imagine how I would look with the new style.

And I happened to stumble upon information on hair chalking. It seems we can temporarily colour our hair with multiple funky bright colours using chalk! No bleach required and apparently, chalk is safe and non-toxic.

Then my brain started whirring and thinking where in hell does Spore sell funky coloured chalks??!
I used trusty Google again and nothing much came up. In the end I got tired and gave up.
I think these sort of weird stuffs are not as popular here in Spore compared to the US.

Then one day, as I was shopping in Daiso, I found a box of coloured chalks. At that point, I didn't know it was chalk. Not till I read the material, which said: Calcium Carbonate and went back to google 'What is chalk made of' that I confirmed it is indeed  the same material!!

YAY!

As we all know, Daiso sells stuff at $2. So the box of beautiful pastel shades of 18 colours cost only $2! (I'm very sure if I had been able to find hair chalk in other art supplies store, they definitely don't come this cheap and in so many colours!!!)

But first, here's how to chalk your hair:

1. Use gloves if you don't want to stain your hands. And you'll also need water spray bottle and a protective towel/cape to protect your clothing.

2. Wet hair so that the chalk pigment will adhere to our hair strands better. But if you are blond, you may just want to colour dry if you don't want the chalk colour to stay in longer.

3. Colour hair downwards and if you want a more even colouring, twist/turn hair to cover the underside of the hair too. Or else, get creative and colour it any way you imagine that it will look good at the end!

4. You can choose to air dry or blow dry (at low setting so we don't blow off the chalk)

5. You can further set in the colour by using a curling thong or flat iron, in which the heat further seals in the colour and minimises bleeding. Use a hair spray for a longer lasting style especially if you choose to curl your hair!

6. The colour will generally go off after one wash unless your hair is very porous (meaning that it has undergone a few chemical processes a few times)

So if your hair is very black, and you are worried the colour won't come out as vibrant, use a white base chalk before going over with the coloured ones.

So, I tried 2 colours; turquoise and pink! And this is how it turned out!

Pardon the messy hair for I just got out of bed and that also explains the bare face. Hahahhaaa

Hair Chalking Effect

Great for parties and go crazy with those gorgeous rainbow colours and look FUNKY for the camera!!

Hair and Makeup: Mesmerizing Mia

Hair and Makeup by me

Photography by Alvelyn Aiko

I love Mia's awesome oriental features. Very sunken cheek bones and single lidded eyes. Many girls have no idea and love huge doe eyes. But in my opinion, these features photograph very well and I would love to have eyes like these if I could!

In the fashion sense, we also call this 'strong' or 'edgy'.

Hair (eyelash) 'REGrowth'

I have just bought myself a lash REGrowth nutritive concoction from Mavala at Sasa's.

After that damned eyelash extension from last year past, I discovered that my lashes are very prone to falling out in 2s and 3s!

I mean come on! 1 lash is enough to freak me out! But 2s and 3s?! (or maybe its age that's catching up and weakened those lash follicles.......) either way, they need rescuing before it goes completely bald!

AND AND one day, as I was washing my hair, I accumulated a clump of it! It didnt really fall out in a clump from one spot but came randomly all over as I was detangling it.

Its actually quite normal to have hair falling out. Normally the clump did not look as much as that day! So, after I threw it on the bathroom floor, I felt indignant and so I picked the clump up and started counting!

DAMN! 40 strands!! I felt kinda shitty. According to info from somewhere, it is actually normal to shed up to 100 strands a day.

*Shudders*

I cannot imagine a clump of 100 strands of hair.....

Anyway, After that fateful day, my hair did not fall out in a clump of 40s. So I guess it was just a one-off.
However! Me shall monitor closely, considering I want to keep waist length hair, therefore I MUST take good care of it!

Ok, back to the eyelash affair.

How to strengthen eyelash?

Been using the Mavala Double lash for about 6 days alr.
Indication: strengthens, lengthens and thickens lashes.
Supposed to use for a month.

It seems like my lashes are getting a bit fuller....??? or isit just my imagination?
Didnt take any pics as I have A lousy digi cam that probably cannot differentiate the individual lashes. So after 1 month, I shall use my utmost objectivity to update you all if it truly is effective!!

Won't see no reason to lie as I'm not advertising for them!! haha!!

Burberry fashion show

I just want to tell everybody I love this totally charming and handsome model! His smile especially....

In utter and total bliss.....

Of course there are other models but I'm too (yawnzzzz) lazy to post them... haha!!!!

Maxmara fashion show

OOhhhh what a pity I didn't get a chance to even get a peep at the Maxmara fashion show. All I did see was chaos backstage when the models all rushed in for the next change of outfits.
In chinese description it was like 一盘散沙.

This was a fashion show for the opening of the Maxmara boutique in Ion orchard.

Amusing nonetheless.....

I bet the viewers in front all wouldn't have known there is so much hard work behind the scenes...
The show's focus was on body suits and sequins and caps and what nots in earth and neutral tones....
You know what? I think these clothes will look so much better on these tall and thin babes!

At the end of it all, there were people at the recep giving away free goodie bags. I didn't take it until I saw my friend fish a calf leather card holder from the paper bag...

*Ting!!* My eyes turned green.

Instantly, I went back up to ask for one too! Boy, I'm so cheap skate! HAahahha But I think I do deserve it. After all, I am work personnel... And to add to the fact that I'm in the fever of studs and R E A L leather!

GH MUMM Formula 1 event

I have just completed an event assignment sponsored by champagne brand GH Mumm!
I have never heard of that brand until now! Probably because Im not a drinker of champagne...

It was one hell of a crazy event where there were 14 pax to be dolled up in the retro 1950s theme!! I had to finish all their hair in 3hrs and a half, including my partner, Siti, who is doing the makeup!

It was held at the National Museum of Singapore. Very chic and classy!

However at the end of it all, it was all worth it cause of the great sense of satisfaction and the chance to bask in the event's classy atmosphere. :)

And of cause, worth it with hot a looking model like this:

This is a party for socialites. For what purpose? I'm not sure. People like David Gan, Ashley Isham, Patricia Mok turned up! What's even better was that, just one wall over, Lady Gaga's concert was ongoing at a feverish pitch!!!

I was actually enjoying myself although I was working like crazy. We didn't have time to go for dinner at all!!! Thank God I didn't faint halfway... I only had a bowl of instant noodles and a packet of milo in my stomach all the way till 11 plus pm!!

Keeping fingers crossed for more of such event assignments to come!!

Truths to Hair Myths

Here's some truth to bust some myths...

Myth 1: Cutting hair makes it stronger/grows faster

Hair grows from the scalp.

What it actually means is that, our hair naturally has different lengths and the hair ends are of a smaller diameter.
So, when it is cut short, it appears to be thicker. If you are trying to grow out your hair, the uncut ends will have been months or even years old, exposed constantly to the weather and physical conditions. These hair ends are prone to breakage without proper care. So, when cut off, it seems that your hair is healthier. When there's less breakage, you may find your hair seems longer too!

A healthy diet plays a part in healthy hair. Include sufficient vitamin B and protein in your diet for better hair growth.

Myth 2. You can repair split ends

Split ends can never be repaired unless u cut them off.
Products used on already split hair only temporarily 'glue' the ends together until the hair is washed or combed.
So in order to prevent this, constant care must be given before the hair is split too much and you need to cut a chunk off!
After every chemical process, it's always advisable to do the accompanied treatment to replenish the moisture.

Myth 3. Frequent shampooing dries my hair.

In this hot and humid climate its best to wash your hair once a day! Complete with conditioning for ladies! Or males with longer hair...when your hair is clean, you get lesser scalp problems or the yikey stinky smell..the key is to choose the right shampoo and products for your hair to replenish moisture not 'oil'.

Myth 4. Frequent shampooing makes my hair fall out more

We are often put off by the amount of hair that comes out during shampooing. But in actual fact, shampooing only removes the loose hair already detached from the scalp.
Shampooing has a stimulative effect on the hair so those who don't wash your hair often, do so now!

Myth 5. Brushing your hair 100 strokes is good for it.

I know this is just an excuse to skive!
When your boss asks you what the hell you are doing, brushing your hair when you are supposed to be working?!

You reply,"Boss, brushing your hair a 100 times a day is good for your scalp! (Boss happens to be balding) Now I'm into 34 times, 35, 36.......39, 40....

Being the workaholics nowadays, what better time to do so in the office. Nah! Having to brush your hair 100 times before going to bed is exhausting!

Anyway, this is bad for your hair! Try brushing your pet 100 times a day and see if you'll wear a hole on it..

Myth 6. Pull out one grey hair and two will grow..

I ll start pulling all my hairs out now! It's not true and it damages the hair follicles.

Myth 7. Dandruff is the cause of a dry scalp.

It is an OILY scalp that causes dandruff. So please do not try to oil your scalp thinking it's dry. You might worsen the condition.
Use an anti dandruff shampoo for 2 weeks or so.

How to use it correctly: shampoo your hair first in the bath after doing the proper lathering and massage, leave the foam on for a while before rinsing off. i.e: proceed to soap your body after and rinse everything off to save time.
when the dandruff is cleared, usually after 2 weeks or so or when you don't see flakes, revert back to your normal shampoo.

Myth 8. Colouring hair makes it fall out

There is no scientific evidence to support this. Contrarily, colouring hair to make you look good boosts your morale greatly!

Halloween crazy!

I haven't had enough sleep since halloween party. My eyes look swollen like a gold fish and on certain days, I swear I could just fall asleep while walking.... Sighh the down side of being older. What the heck, you take a longer time to recuperate.

Anyways! Check out the halloween pictures! What with all the fun makeup and crazy dressing...
It's the only day where you get to look UGLY/OVERLY PRETTY without feeling self conscious! Ah ha! Though for this year's Halloween, I refused to become an ugly ghost. A meek Lee-O-Pard without spots perhaps?

nnnnoooooooo im not minnie mouse....... whine.........

*MEOooooW...*

Preparation of Scariness:

Look at the wonderful imagination of my friend, done by Jo, and the resemblance to 'The Nightmare before Christmas' female version?

Close up...

WOOHOO!
and with me adding to their deranged ghost/doll look with a vengeance...

Chinese ghost Pian Pian in the making...

madness hair

Now for Lola, the lolita maimed doll... Woahahha! I get such a kick out of doing this! Spray her!

Finished!

Striking resemblance I would say! Hmmmmm Christmas! what shall we be? Santa-rinas?
I'll be spending it in USA!

Of course we must take a photo together to the start of our ghostly adventures!

* The reason i propped my leg so high is because I want everyone to see my 5" platform high heels! Apparently not high enough...

Ahhh never mind.. so, we decided on St James, thinking the premise will actually be big enough to accommodate all the 'ghosts' out celebrating Halloween. Zouk is out (which is freaking jam packed! And MOS has since closed down..)

Me getting into the mood of scaring people.

Lola looks unperturbed..

try again...to no avail..

A proper threesome picture before we go in

Sad to say,

The atmosphere was boring! The Powerhouse music was sucky (with awkward beats and pauses), nobody actually seemed to be dancing. Dragonfly was packed to the brim as usual, looking down from "Firefly", we decided to NOT step in and squeeze with the madness of a crowd.

However, we sure attracted lots of new friends unknowingly!

While queuing up to go into Power house, we spotted this! Mustn't let this chance of taking pictures with this "mutilated till death" ghost off!

And also for self entertainment..... muahahhah!

As you can see, Lee-o-pard (that's me) is scared.... -_-lll

Totally made full use of the green spotlight to make ourselves look 'eerie' And when the moon is full, we transform....into greenish hulks..

While we were trying to gyrate our pelvics away, we were approached by 2 males; one Afro American and the other malaysian.
They invited us over to their table for drinks.. We weren't really interested so we kept telling them later till they went off. Ha!

So, later on came this group, where the satanic female is ultra friendly... with motives???

This is eerie! shedding black tears! must have been severely upset when alive......

A satanic Chinese ghost???!!
For the gal on the right, you can see a bit of a blood stain on the edge of her mouth ..... wonder what/who she devoured?

Run Pian Pian Runnnn!!!..........

A hoody transformed into spidey! Absolutely love it! stifling hot!

In Firefly to claim our 1 Free drink and instead we got more!

Stupidity knows no boundaries... what the hell you took my ears for???!! obviously for stupid reasons....

Group of jappys out to have fun on Halloween

A Single mum out working on halloween night selling alcoholic shots according to Pian Pian..

So, she got the lame jappys to buy us drinks! Thumbs up for free alcohol!

We got a new addition..

We stayed till 4 plus 5 before Pian pian's fiance came to fetch us home...
And the next day, I got an early morning job!

Tired but still photo crazy...

Byeeeeee Lola
Byeeeeee Pian Pian
Byeeeeee Lee-O-Pard.....
