Hair and Makeup for Love Bonito: Golden Days @ Alkaff Mansion

The latest Love Bonito's Lookbook shoot at Alkaff Mansion.

Alkaff Mansion is huge and I imagined it to be my house while shooting. I wonder who bought the land and built this gorgeous 'mansion like' place just for people to dine in????!! I mean they even have giant rocking chairs placed around the premises!

Check out said giant rocking chair:
Having a cheap thrill of a time on this giant chair
SHIT! I think I look kinda granny-ish in this chair !!! No? WAHHHHHhhhhhh dreaded hormones

Ahhhhhhh the hobbies of the rich people........ Whereas peasants of our kind can only dream of owning it...... Tsk Tsk Tsk.
Perhaps one could apply the Law of Attraction here???

So this young lady with me is the stylist for this shoot and the most bimbotic, the noisiest girl ever.
I enjoy poking fun of her too ;)
Both of us think that I look younger than her. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Being peasants one may consider renting (instead of owning it) Alkaff Mansion for special occassions like weddings or important parties. The place is HUGE

Or

Pretend to be a tai tai for a day with your biatchy friends and go try their high tea menu ;)

Love Bonito Photoshoot: Poolside Party

And as we all know it's summer time! The hottest time of the year and supposedly the best time.
However, in tropical Singapore, It is ALWAYS summer. Not the best time, cause the heat and humidity is totally unbearable mostly and makes me extremely cranky.

IT MAKES ME SCREAM, SWEAR, BITE AND turn pretty VIOLENT......

Anyway, the recent spell of horrible air pollution brought by blowing winds from Sumatra to Singapore only made the weather worse.

It has inconvenienced many and actually posed a health hazard to all with PSI levels shooting up as high as >500?!!!!!! (ABOMINABLE!)

And to think the prime minister of Jakarta can frivolously brush our complaints off as being 'childish'?! Comparing this serious smoky polluted air as just a little 'barbecue smoke' WTF?!

IT caused TWO of my photoshoots to be postfoned and making us turn ugly and desperate by snatching packs of mask from another's hands literally because stocks are being depleted very quickly.

ReallY?! It saddens me the unscrupulous lengths we can go to make money. (and of course to buy the masks.... ZZZZzzzzz....
Apparently, the smoke pollution resulted  from the massive burning of tress in Sumatra by big companies to clear land in the cheapest and fastest way possible.

WHY CANT they just chop the tress and sell it as a raw material or even use it as FUEL to generate power?!!!! They can also earn money NO??!! But in a more ethical way instead of wasting good resources by just burning it?!!!!!! ARGGhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Luckily, the haze cleared up so much that we are able to proceed with the upcoming summer collection from Love Bonito at W hotel in Sentosa!

I swear it was one of the hottest day I ever experienced. I felt extremely dehydrated and a bit lightheaded from all the heat, plus, sweat was cascading down from all of my pores....Thank god I didn't get heat stroke. I certainly felt like I was going to faint!

HYDRATE YOURSELF people!!!

Anyway here are the pictures!

Maybelline Feline Chic eyes contest

I took part in Maybelline's facebook group contest for the promotion of their new feline range of mascara.

What we had to do was: transform lovely eyes into gorgeous cat eyes...> Mascara, liners and all!

The prize? $80 hamper worth of Maybelline's products!!

Guess what?? I was one of the winners!!! SHIOKNESS.

Here are my entries for the contest:

Blue eyed kitten

Miss L-E-O-P-A-R-D

The Tigress.

How artistic of me to only draw stripes on one eye. I was lazy and used this as a convenient excuse! haha

The reason I took part was because I wanted the free hamper!! It's $80 worth of makeup that i sure could put to good use! Oh so attractive...

Besides, I have this thing for thinking out of the 'box'. So, combined with my wonderful makeup skills (HAHAHA), I got this 98% hunch that I'll win this contest.

Free stuff in times of recession! What better way to cut cost? Im being thrifty here. :D.

Basic steps to makeup

Girls! In this society where impression counts and the nicer looking girls get more treats, it's really time to start experimenting with some makeup!

Step 1
: Cleanse your face

Step 2: Toner, moisturizer and sunblock (moisturizer/sunblock acts as a base prior to foundation so that makeup does not come into direct contact with your skin)

Step 3: Concealer (dab concealer on required areas only i.e under eye circles, blemish, red spots) and pat blend in

Step 4
: Liquid/cream Foundation -- Dot on red spots or uneven areas of skin usually along the or on the nose, under eyes and corners of the mouth.
Moving from inside of face outward, blend well into skin using clean fingers/nylon brush/wedge sponge.

Blend at hairline and jawline

Note: Foundation is not necessarily required to be used all over the face for your daily work/shopping routine.

Tip: Liquid foundation offers a medium to full coverage and it is easy to use. (my personal favourite) For light coverage, opt for a powder foundation. The new mineral range is great!

Too much foundation on good skin makes one look too 'made up'... Go for light loose powder ones instead or none at all!
For those with God given good skin, you may just want to concentrate on the eye and have fun with colours!

Step 5: brush loose powder lightly with a large brush to set foundation. You can go without the loose powder for a more dewy look.

Step 6
: Blusher on apple of your cheeks

* Once skin tone is evened out, the skin will lack colour. Bring it back with bronzer/blush or both.
How to apply bronzer: Apply using a big fluffy brush on the forehead, cheeks and nose. (where sun naturally hits) follow with blush.

Tip: Creamy blush creates a dewy complexion better than powder ones.

Step 7: Do your eye makeup. For simplicity, eyeliner and mascara are sufficient.

Tip: Pencil liners are easier to use as compared to liquid ones. Choose a soft tip one so it draws easily onto your lids without dragging the skin. Follow the top outline of ur eye. Fill in the bottom if you want bolder and more intense eyes.
