As the saying goes: Beauty comes from within. This holds true to a certain extent. Besides being confident and beautiful on the inside, physically, you'll still need just that little bit of vanity: that little extra effort of grooming, of dressing up, of making up to complete THE whole you. (Strike a balance between these 2 aspects and you'll never go wrong)
Needless to say, we do indeed live in a practical judgemental world. Impression always counts, especially 1st ones. Not forgeting that in this fast paced world, many a times, we do not have the time or chance to be able to get to know a person better for us to judge if he/she is a good candidate for a job, the ideal person for a partner or the best person for a friend.
Therefore, what's the most natural thing people do eventually? Yes, we judge people through appearances.
Apart from leaving a good impression, dressing up and looking good makes a person feel good too. Humans tend to get attracted by beautiful things. Who knows? You just might attract your special someone into your life? Or even the right job you've been looking for?
Well so how do we look good then? you ask...
Ok, lets start from the top: your crowning glory..
Do not underestimate your glorious mane.. be it long or short. It is not called your crowning glory for no reason. Just imagine yourself to be bald. How does that feel?
So, as a hair stylist and vanity guru, you can count on me to advise you on the most appropriate styles to match your facial features and lifestlye.
As for the the more adventurous ones, experimentations welcome :) nothing beats the excitement of trying something new! Worry not folks! Life's short! you only live once! Apart from this, generally as a rule of thumb, we categorise facial shapes into 7 groups:
Namely:
1) Round
2) Square
3) Triangle
4) Oblong
5) Diamond
6) Heart
7) Oval (most ideal)
Of course not to forget that all of us have different features and variations of head shapes. So an artful selection of style will be carried out.
This is something the hair stylist will work out for you.
Next up is your face.
People look at your face everyday. So, it is of utmost importance to keep it clean and radiant! For those with problematic skin, consult a doctor and go for regular treatments. Facials do help in maintaining the healthy condition of your skin, males and females alike. However, if you are going to forego facial spas, the most important thing you can do is adopt a basic cleaning regime yourself: cleanse, tone, EXFOLIATE and moisturize! Now, why did i emphasize exfoliation? That's because dead dull skin will accumulate on the surface and thus the reason why some people look dull and tired. You need to get rid of the old(skin) and welcome the new!
After taking care of your face, it's now the coordination of clothes. I know many people have different styles. So, as far as I can say is that, choose the right fitting clothes for your body. Here are some examples:
e.g 1:
If you belong to the petite or not so tall category, avoid loose fitting clothes or baggy bottoms as it will overwhelm the overall look. Try to go for same colour combination for the top and bottom so it gives the illusion of you looking taller.
e.g 2:
If u have a long torso and shorter legs, short skirts or shorts will look betta than 3/4 length bottoms. cinch your waist or under bust line with a belt (empire cut) so the attention is brought higher up. (Note: this is NOT the same as low riding belts on the hips.)
Remember! Proportion is the key factor! Rule of thumb: if you have too much of something not good, balance out the opposite way!
Ok. I have nothing against plump people. but if you feel you are too much over the limit, it's time to do something...
Accessories play an important factor in completing an outfit, shoes included.
Nails are the in-thing for females nowadays. All the fancy artworks on the nails are just absolutely impressive! Do pamper yourself once in a while. Males too! No excuse for ugly long nails! Its totally abominable!
So, start lookin good today!
