Antalis Fashion Show

The Paper of all paper shows is here!!!

This one is for fashion! You never knew you can do SUCH artsy stuff with paper! It is not merely something for you to write on, or blow your mucus on or wipe your ass with.... (By that I mean tissue and toilet paper....)

Paper can be made into................................................................

DRESSES!!!! ACCESSORIES!!!!!! & HEAD PIECES!!!!!

Antalis is the sponsor for the paper. A german origin paper company that produces top quality, beautiful papers. Will show pics of samples later.

The show spanned over the course of 3 days.

When I first saw the different pieces of dresses half done at the 1st fitting, I was amazed! Indeed master pieces are always crafted painstakingly by hand.

My friend is the designer for the dresses. -Nicola

This is a major show for her and she called me to be the hair and makeup coordinator for this event!

A great opportunity I would say and I drew up face charts to go with the 5 different outfits.

Check it out! Check it out!

My master pieces:

I know the drawings may look weird to some of you but this is the SOP for makeup charting. AND if some of you think the makeup look weird, PLEASE just speak to my hand!

In my opinion, avante garde fashion should have avant garde hair and makeup for it to be complete.

Now the dresses:

My favourite model with The Prism dress and matchy shoes

My favourite dress:
The Origami dress

The Circle dress with matchy shoes

The Gold dress with matchy shoes

The Bridal dress; with the humongous veil

Seriously, the veil is freaking hard to attach and because it's soo heavy and we kinda worry for the model's scalp...

Thank God it didn't fall off during all 3 days of the show.

PHEW!!!

After wearing the dresses, the models cannot go to the toilet nor sit down nor make big movements.

Well well well, the sacrifices one makes for the noble causes of ART.

Me and partner Christina who helped me complete all models smoothly.

We totally had fun and Antalis had also set up a huge paper booth showcasing the different sculptures made by different designers from their paper.

Check them out:

(I apologise for the poor resolution of the pics.)

World cup

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I won!!

Excuse me, excuse me!! WAIT!!

WHAT????????

NOOOOO????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not win the final match even though I followed Paul the Octopus and betted on the winning team, SPAIN!!!!!

WHY???????

Cause they only scored a goal in extra time! Which means that the bet has to be done in special bets category!!!!!!!!!! So technically I should have bought a draw which I did indeed wanted to JUST because PAullie chose spain but the fortune bird in little india, Mani chose Holland.

[MY gut (instincts/6th sense or whatever) was thinking: Oh so it may mean a draw then????? MAYBE??? Just maybe????!!!]

Everybody was speculating wildly. There are rumours of fried octopus/sashimi and fried wings.

So if you had followed the news, the animals are highly accurate and if you combine the 2 of them to be analysed, it SHOULD be a draw cause you would have taken both animals into account!

BUT as it was my virgin time betting with spore pools and I did not even know how to write on the slips (it was done with a help from my friend), I was just too lazy to go figure out and bet on 'draw' match.

So there is no money to be claimed now~ SOBZ!

Disappointing!!!!! GGRRRRRrrrrrr!!!

Women should be Happy & Healthy!

I thought I should share with you all interesting tips on how to stay healthy that I got from an e-newsletter!

10 nutrients women need

I think it is really important considering we tend to have to multi task a lot; taking care of our family and doing household chores and on top of that: WORK

NOT FORGETTING

We DO explode because shit happens, either caused by hubby/boyfriends (face it, this happens often to the majority. Congrats to the minority though.... lol)

Children driving you nuts, and OF course (who else????) YOUR boss. Maybe mother-in-laws even... zzzZZZ

WEll well WELL....................

OOOooooOOOoooooooHHHHhhhhhh

Women are indeed noble!

And so, in order to continue to uphold the best interests of all things we hold dear, we must keep our wonderful brains clear and working in good order to deal with all things 'chaotic' in this highly urbanised society!!

Nutrient number 1:

Folic acid or folate

This a type of B vitamin, which creates new cells and good DNA.

I guess you would have noticed the reason why advertisements always emphasize the goodness of folic acid in milk powder for pregnant ladies.. For healthy babies!

Folate decreases the level of an amino acid that has been linked to stroke, heart attack and dementia.

Folate can stabilize mood swings associated with menopause and perimenopause.

Found in foods like: nuts, legumes, spinach, dark leafy greens, enriched breads, pastas and grains, and is also usually in multivitamins.

I take vitamin B complex supplements!

Nutrient number 2:

Calcium
Calcium provides the building blocks for bones and teeth, and studies suggest it helps prevent breast cancer and reduces the severity of premenstrual syndrome.

PMS can affect some females badly. For me I drink Anlene milk powder for my daily calcium intake. :)

Found in foods: milk, cheese, ice cream, almonds, broccoli

For younger women, 1000mg. For post-menopausal women, 1,200 milligrams per day is required to prevent osteoporosis associated with aging.

Nutrient number 3

Iron

Iron is important for oxygen to get to cells. Women often lose a lot fo iron during menstration. When our iron level is low, we will tire easily.

Iron rich foods: beef, pork, poultry and fish, which all contain heme iron (easily absorbed)
vegetable iron: non-heme iron and include beans and dark greens (not easily absorbed and best to take with vitamin C)

Nutrient number 4

Omega-3 Acids

These are fats that our body cannot synthesize.

They can reduce stroke risk for women by more than half, and they also reduce blood triglycerides, lower blood pressure and increase levels of healthy HDL-cholesterol.
Omega-3s can also reduce inflammation linked with cardiovascular disease and arthritis.

Found in foods: salmon, anchovies

Nutrient number 5

Vitamin D

This is easy! Just go under the sun! A bit of sun does indeed do us good.

Vitamin D works to help in calcium absorption, reducing risk of osteoporosis

Nutrient number 6

Magnesium

Responsible for metabolism, maintaining a healthy heart and blood pressure.
People with kidney failure should not be taking magnesium supplements.

Found in foods: vegetables, seafood, meats, nuts, dairy products

Nutrient number 7

Vitamin C

Helps to repair cell damage caused by free radicals. (free radicals are 'monster' cells in our body that does us no good. - in layman's terms)

It's good for the production of collagen for healthy skin, gums, teeth, blood vessels, ligaments and bones.
Besides this, it seems like Vitamin C can help to prevent a lot of ailments! So, just be good and take our daily required dosage (90mg) of C to keep the doctor away!!

Nutrient number 8

Selenium

An antioxidant to prevent damage to DNA.
NOTE: it helps to maintain healthy skin, hair, eyes and liver.

Found in foods: seafood, meats

Nutrient number 9

Vitamin E

Antioxidant. Slows down aging process!

Found in foods: nuts, seeds, avocados and vegetable oils like olive, sunflower, safflower and canola.

Nutrient number 10

Potassium

Potassium increases bone density and helps prevent osteoporosis.
It also reduces salt sensitivity, lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of kidney stones.

Found in foods: bananas, baked potatoes, prune juice, oranges

Doses of more than 18 grams can be toxic, especially for individuals with unhealthy kidney function

So now we know what are the essentials to a healthy body. Start maintaining now!

Slimming Hair Styles

Hey peeps!! Its been a ______ time.... (please fill in the blanks yourselves)

I apologise for the lack of juice and so today I am going to reveal some great tips on how to achieve a slimmer face!

"Every girl's dreams..."

Tip 1: Volume on top.

Nowadays with rebonded flat hair being the common most manageable 'in thing', It's no wonder we all complain that we have fat cheeks......

Having volume at the crown area shifts focus upward, making the face look more oval. (the most ideal face shape)

Tip 2: Deep side parting

Parting your hair to the side breaks the uniformity of a round face and highlights your cheeks. This diagonal line is much needed to make the facial length appear longer.

Tip 3: Long hair

Keeping your hair long and straight (this does not necessarily mean pencil straight rebonded hair for all) elongates the physique. Avoid volume at the cheeks which is the fullest part of the face!

Tip 4: Layers

Layers add movement to hair and reduces the heavy limp look. Well placed layers add definition to the jawline and help hide a double chin.

Tip 5: Short with longer bangs

Fear not!! Short crops can still be suitable for your face as long the fringe is is kept longer and swept to a side part. (Think Rihanna)
Just avoid blunt ends near the cheeks which will emphasize the width.

My Hk/Shenzhen trip

My long awaited HK treat as promised (by somebody) since long last year, is finally fulfilled on march 28th!

OOOO la la!

Didnt realise that going to hongkong can be that expensive! I thought initially the price would be the same as going to bangkok... NOOO!! IT isn't!

When I first called the travel agency, I panicked! THe price ranged from $600+ to $700+! The 1st thing that came to my mind was: my bf wont want to pay that much for this and there goes my trip!!

So I set my mind to this mission of finding the best hk deal so I get to go! And I DID!! Pat me on the back man, Im the queen at doing these mundane stuffs..... v v auntish... hahha

The deal: air tix + accom at ~ $450+/- cant remember the exact amount....

Airport transfer wasn't included cause they have public transport to get from the airport to the hotel.. very easy to navigate*...
*only advisable if you have big hunks carrying your overweight luggage back to the airport....

The timing was perfect. very early morning flight and the latest midnight flight back.

I was told not to doll up too much so as not to bring too much attention to myself. It caN BE QUITE DANGEROUS apparently? maybe?

Days in hongkong was spent scouting for good food and cheap n good shopping places...

The 1st place we went was mongkok, famously known for the young trendy fashion and their 'Ladies' street'.

We walked from our hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui to Mongkok and my legs almost gave way.... -_-

when I reached there, it wasnt what I expected! I finished walking the ladies' street within an hour or so and there was nothin much left for me to shop! Although we were still exploring the street, in my mind I was actually looking for things to buy and there aren't much!

To think I felt so proud in not spending so much on my 1st day, cause there wasnt much that caught my fancy....

What I got was actually leggings because the clothes in Ladies street aren't really to my taste at all!

I started to sulk and told bf: THIS COULDN'T BE IT!
He scratched his head and told me he got no idea where else to go... (typical typical)

BAD NEWS FOR ME cause we still have all day!

Cause he had a friend who worked in hk for awhile and she told us some good shopping places we could go to and now there isn't?

Thankfully, bf smsed his friend to ask her where to satisfy this shopaholic gf of his...

Places like lychee kok, tsuen wan, and a few more. (I forgot already considering I took so long to post this entry up... ) HAHA

I was quite excited after we knew where to shop and basically the rest of the days were spent walking all over HK, shopping, eating and a bit of sight seeing.

Plus, we planned to travel up to ShenZhen on the 2nd day where its known for cheap food and shopping! I love CHINA!

ok enough of the boring stuff. I shall just post pics!!

This is the airport 'transfer' that ll bring us to town. Very posh, very clean, very nice, very comfortable.....

*Highly recommended to get the 3 day octopus pass for unlimited travelling on their train.

My 1st meal in HK, fish ball mian xian. They call their fish ball, 'yu dan', which I thought were fish eggs. @.@ my cantonese sucks!
Their mian xian looks like our chor bee hoon, but the taste: VEry much softer and better!!

Happily awaiting for our food.....

Avenue of stars view at night. Pardon the blurred effect.......
My hands are shaking from the cold... EVERYBODY told me it will not be that cold! So I wasnt well equipped with nice warm stuff! :(

At 'Avenue of stars' for scenery viewing. Nice grand clock tower behind me.

Basically, this is how I looked; sloppy 'chin chai wear' shorts with sweater & shawl (intended to wear throughout 4 days), hopefully to deter any pickpockets or tikopeks...

The winds are freaking strong and freaking freaking cold!!

This is their famous mango dessert. A must try!!!
I'm still bitter I didnt get to eat their 'you tiao' cos bf doesnt want to share with me as it's too oily. I cant finish it cos it's too big.

I hate u bf!

This is THE place to go in shenzhen! 老街

This is the freaking best thing I love in Shen zhen, apart from the shopping.
酸辣粉 (sour spicy vermicilli) !!! It is especially shiok to eat this in cold weather.

*Hey! I don't look that bad without makeup eh??*
Food over here is mad CHEAP!

A very innovative way to eat to NOT get your hands dirty..... :)

Yummylicous bowl of wanton noodle. My appetite was huge when in HK

This is fish slice Chee cheong fan. I think its nicer than the char siew.

Some of My HK loot:

The best thing I feel that's a must buy are their REAL leather bags! They sell at what you would pay for a PVC bag in spore! GOOD! I got 2!

This wallet is highly leather too! Smells good!

Imma super fan of leggings..

High quality fake tips. It saves time without me having to DIY....

Freaking good korean style clothings!

Stylo Milo glasses I got in Shenzhen!! I LOVE!

One of the hair piece I got to extend and make my hair ultra long. (I got quite other pieces, including a pink afro wig!!) :D Good for photo shoots!

I AM itching to go back there!!!

Events Galore!

Oh my! MY! I have been neglecting my blog!! Thought I ll consolidate stuff and it'll be easy but instead it gets procrastinated....

Recently been involved with events!! So fun! I love being busy! Im a shopaholic and a workaholic officially! Enjoy while it lasts......

Puma with 'Da Mouth' event!

"Puma showcasing their latest spring/summer 2010 collection. They are all very nice! Colourful, fun and trendy! Not the usual kind of boring sports wear." LOVE their shoes!

Taiwan's latest and hottest band 大嘴巴. I didn't even know who they were untill that day! I know Aisha from years ago tv program Sunday girls!

Old school video of them!

Aisha's dance moves now are fantastic! And she is very x 10 petite can?!

I love this guy!

Event was held in the old building of MOS. Free flow booze! I had chicken rice (super delicious) and a bottle of Heineken. Shiok is the only word to describe.

Da mouth and crew!

On that day, I went a little crazy and opted for a no eyebrows look. Realised I shouldn't smile so much and should act cool and aloof for pictures. I think it'll look much better.
I looked a tad whacky with goofy grin on my face.... ~_-ll

Anyways......................................................................................

The models and me:

I am so hardworking and hungry!

********************************************************************************

Fashion show for T.M Lewin, boutique specialising in shirts and work wear. Mainly mens' I guess..

It was held at Resorts World Sentosa! I thought for a minute I ll get the chance to explore the attractions inside resort world. But in the end, there was't enough time to do so.

The closest I ever got to anything interesting was the entrance to the casino! Bling Bling! CHing! Ching!

I LOVE GAMBLING! I haven got the chance to get into the casino cause I don't want to pay $100! Unless maybe I can win it back? But no guarantee right? Cause its GAMBLING!

Me and partner Joey were just supposed to do the hair for the models. They had sponsors from Bobbi Brown for makeup.

There were more male models than females but no handsome ones! Borringgg....
No eye candy for the night.

Here are the pics:

Me and models and mama Joey!

Our end of job treats!

After we did all the models, we sneaked out for some wine and food. There was catering out in the events hall. Our catered dinner of briyani wasn't satisfying enough.

In the end, we got better stuff:

I love my job!

******************************************************************************

Next assignment was for Ngee ann song composing club's annual concert! Apparently it's the school's ECA. COOL!

Pics pics pics

Weather was especially hot that day and I think I stunk of sweat! ewww!!!! Totally unglam!
Decided I should bring out a mini fan nxt time. Battery operated kind! + bottle of perfume!

End of day's dinner was steak at Botak Jones. Utter utter bliss......... lost energy needs to be replenished with succulent meat....

Eyebags-How to minimise them?

It has been a really long time since I last posted!
Why?
Cause apart from being busy and having writer's block, I was feeling grumpy and grouchy a couple of times back. So, TOTALLY no MOOD!!!

Now, at least I'm feeling better, and I do not hate the world, I'm going to discuss on the topic: EYEBAGS

(why not talk about dark eye circles?) - Eyes circles can be gotten rid of using wonderful makeup/concealers if all else fails. NOT eyebags.

Why oh why do we have eye bags?

Because we are living in stressful Singapore, probably having to face the computer up to 14 hrs a day, or clubbing after work to 'de-stress' with alcohol and not having enough sleep....??

Probably...

But *most bags under the eyes are the result of accumulated fat under the eye area. This happens when the septum surrounding the eyeball weakens, causing the outer layer of fat within the socket to sink forward.

*courtesy of http://www.darkcirclesgone.com/bags.html

HA! And the reason why I said minimise is cause, it cannot be gotten rid except surgically called: Blepharoplasty.

Surgery? Quite scary though its fairly common and acceptable socially now.

PLUS not cheap... worth the risk? (all surgeries come with calculated risks) hmmmmmmm...........

What can we do?

THE Cucumber/Tea bag Remedy

They actually do wk! Cut thin slices and put them over the eye bag area for about 20 minutes a day. Make sure they are chilled before you use them as they act as cold compress to help in reducing puffiness. Tannin in tea reduces swelling and discolouration.

Plenty of Fluids

Drink plenty of fluids to flush out excess sodium in your body to minimise water retention that can cause swelling around eye area. Insufficient nutrients also can cause eye bags. Multi vitamins help to restore and balance these nutrients in the body

Get Enough Sleep!

Lack of sleep causes the eyes to have a sunken effect.
And by sleep, I don't mean one wonder day of sleep! It has to be a constant effort of good sufficient sleep. :)

The Potato Remedy

Ah! New method? Apparently not!
Potato contains skin lightening enzyme catecholase, which helps in restoring discoloured areas.

Allergies/Illness

If dark eye rings and eye bags are always constant, you may be suffering from allergy or illness.
ie. a kidney problem or a slow thyroid *

*courtesy of http://www.darkcirclesgone.com/bags.html

So hopefully with these mini methods, we can help ourselves look better!
